The Low Country Senior Softball Association, Inc. (LCSSA) is a 501 (c) (7) tax-exempt, non-profit corporation organized pursuant to the Laws of South Carolina.  LCSSA is comprised of senior men, 48 years and over, who enjoy the friendships and camaraderie of slow pitch softball.  We currently maintain an e-mail roster of over 300 men and every season, we can field from 12-13 teams in three separate divisions in two leagues.

Each year comprises two seasons, Spring games run from March through June; and Fall season games run from August through November. There is a morning and an evening league. The evening league is comprised of two divisions: National (recreational) and American (competitive).  Rosters are typically composed of 14 or 15 players, and with 11 fielders (10 in the Evening League American Division), everyone plays, everyone bats, regardless of ability.

Evening league games are played every Monday and Wednesday evening. Morning league games are played on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Our games are played at the Hanahan Fields, located on Railroad Ave. behind Trident Technical College off Rivers Ave.

Typically, each team plays one or two games per week, depending on the number of teams and field availability.  We play 12 games per season followed by a double elimination tournament that all teams participate in.

We have weekly practices (weather permitting) on Saturday mornings (time determined by field availability).  These practices are held throughout the year and are usually at the Hanahan softball fields behind Trident Technical College. Beginning shortly after each season ends and running typically through opening day, Tuesday morning practices are from 10 am – 12 noon usually at the Hanahan Fields.

All registrations/fees received after the registration deadline for the beginning of a particular season will result in the player being placed on our wait list.  As soon as a roster spot opens up, our selection committee will select a player from our wait list and assign him to a team.  Wait list players are usually not there too long and are placed on teams on an ongoing basis.  The fees from wait list players are not deposited until the player is assigned to a team.  Each year you should expect to be on a different team and play with different players.

We have players from ages 48 through 87 at all different levels of ability.  All we ask is that you have a good time, be a good sportsman, and don’t get hurt.

If you have any interest at all, join our email list and please come to a practice and hit and catch a few balls. If you register, new players must have a player evaluation that will enable you to be placed on a team.  A league officer will fill you in on the details of this when you register. In all cases, new assignments to a team are done with an eye to keep the competitive balance in the league.
